Archangel Uriel In The Bible
Although Archangel Uriel is not mentioned in the Hebrew bible (same to many other archangels like Raguel, Jophiel, Zadkiel, Cassiel, etc), it is important to understand that it traditionally does not call the archangels by their name. There were many manifestations of many archangels in the old and new testaments (Christian bible) but we never knew most of their names.
Uriel is indeed mentioned in many kabbalistic and apocryphal teachings – the most relevant of these is the Book of Enoch who is referred to as the “light of God”. He was given different tasks and purposes which is what we are going to reveal and discuss in this reading.

One of his most significant symbols is a flaming sword. Some people confuse him with St Michael the Archangel as they use similar weapons. He is said to carry the stars of the universe and has an electric aura that’s why he is associated with thunders and electric storms. According to Apocrypha, Archangel Uriel is the guardian of the Garden of Eden.
He wields the torch of God that carries His flames. She blows the flames to lighten the dark path of the confused and feared.
In times of Darkness and confusion, he shines the light of God’s truth. Wisdom is what drives Uriel when performing his difficult tasks.

1. Archangel Uriel’s Role In The Apocalypse
One of his main tasks is to preside over the Tartarus or Hell, where he pursues punishment of sinners. This punishment is brutal, he burns sinners in everlasting fire and hangs blasphemers by their tongues over unquenchable fires. It is known that all those souls that die before the day of judgment will reside in Hell in temporal suffering. During Apocalypse, he has the task of collecting all the souls before the judgment seat, breaking the bronze gates of Hell.
2. Archangel Uriel Is The First One Who Became A Mortal
Uriel is identified as a dark angel who became mortal during 70 generations with the name of “Jacob”. The following is one of the things Uriel says in the prayer of Joseph:
“I have come down to earth to make my dwelling among men, and I am called Jacob by name.”
This statement suggests Uriel has become a human named Jacob, which is the first record known about an angel becoming a mortal. This is an insight that would help us to understand the shocking secret about Archangel Uriel.
3. He Is The Messenger Of The Apocalypse
Archangel Uriel, due to his high rank has information about future events anyone knows about, he delivers the messages about the apocalypse to those who have a strong connection with him and God. 4. He Cares About His Fallen Brother Lucifer
Most of the major archangels and guardian angels in heaven have seen that Lucifer is beyond saving (see: Is Lucifer an Archangel). However, Uriel still believes he has a light of good left within him and that he is his victim consumed by rage and hatred. He believes that Lucifer needs to receive love and acceptance. He would even provide food and counseling to the fallen angel during his imprisonment. There’s a close connection between both. 5. He Flooded The Earth To Get Rid Of Human-Angel Mutations
During the Noah times, it became normal for angels taking human wives and procreate. Archangel Uriel was against this idea and requested divine intervention. He wanted to eradicate human-angel giants and mutations from the earth. He spoke up and requested to be the one who carry the necessary divine actions on the matter.
Due to this mating between humans and angels producing a race of hybrid giants, Uriel was not happy about this aberration of the divine angelic genes. The humans were considered guilty of defiling angels with these unions, however, the real punishment was for the angels who just decided to berate their self beings by joining with humanity. These hybrid creatures were considered abominations and then the idea of a great flood to cleanse the earth and get rid of these aberrations became a reality. All angels who mated with a human were also killed during the great flood. This was a complete purge of earth and on heaven, as well.
“Here shall stand the angels who have connected themselves with women, and their spirits assuming many different forms are defiling mankind and shall lead them astray into sacrificing to demons ‘as gods’, (here shall they stand,) till ‘the day of’ the great judgment in which they shall be judged till they are made an end of. And the women also of the angels who went astray shall become sirens.” – Book of Enoch.
Archangel Uriel Prayer And Connection
Archangel Uriel is one of the most difficult divine entities to connect with. There’s no ritual or special steps to follow in order to get closer to him.
